Privacy Notice

Your health information stays on your device. This notice explains what this guide stores, what it never collects, and your rights under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR). Last updated: 3 November 2026.

The short version

1. Who is responsible for your information

This guide, Antibiotics & You, is developed and maintained by Dr Christianne Micallef PhD. Dr Micallef is the data controller for the information described in this notice. You can reach the developer through the contact details given wherever you obtained your link to this guide.

2. Information kept on your device only

When you use the Symptom Diary, the Consultation Notes, the Side Effects tracker or a treatment plan, everything you type is saved in the storage of the web browser on your own device. It is not sent to the developer or to anyone else, and it is not copied to any server.

This means:

  • Your entries are visible only to someone with access to your device and browser.
  • Your entries do not appear on your other devices, and cannot be recovered if you clear your browser data or use another browser — this is the trade-off for keeping them private.
  • You can delete any entry at any time using the Delete button, or remove everything by clearing the site data in your browser settings.

3. Anonymous visit counts

To improve the guide and to evaluate whether it helps people use antibiotics appropriately (for example, in clinical practice and behaviour change studies), we count how often pages are visited. These counts are aggregated: we see totals such as how many times a page was read, the approximate region and the type of device. We do not receive names, contact details, identifying codes, or any health information, and we cannot connect a visit to any diary, consultation or side-effect entry, because those never leave your device.

4. Reviews

If you choose to leave a review, the first name or initials, star rating and comment you type are sent to the guide's database so they can be checked before publication. Nothing appears publicly until it has been approved, and reviews can be removed. Please do not include personal or medical details in a review. Everything else you use in the guide stays on your device.

5. What we never do

  • We do not sell or share your information.
  • We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
  • We do not ask you to create an account or sign in to use the guide.
  • We do not send you emails or marketing.

6. Your rights under the UK GDPR

You have the right to be informed, to access your data, to correct it, to have it erased, to restrict or object to its use, to data portability, and to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Because your diary, consultation and side-effect information never leaves your device, you exercise most of these rights directly: you can read, change and permanently delete your entries yourself, at any time. For the anonymous visit counts there is nothing to access, correct or delete, because they contain no information about you personally. For anything about a review you submitted, contact the developer.

7. How long information is kept

Entries on your device stay there until you delete them or clear your browser data. Anonymous visit counts are kept only in aggregate form. Approved reviews stay published until you ask for their removal.

8. Changes to this notice

If this notice changes, the updated version will appear on this page with a new "last updated" date. If the guide ever starts collecting more than is described here, it will say so here first and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
